Facilities Management's Health System Physical Plant at the University of Virginia has exciting opportunities for experienced Licensed Tradespeople to play a key role in serving our UVA hospital and related research and related buildings to best serve our patients and visitors. We are seeking multiple Licensed Trades workers to work on various shift roles.

The Tradesperson independently responds to all emergency calls in the Health System Complex and maintains equipment to ensure proper operation during the scheduled shift. The incumbent maintains all systems in an operational condition and provides a safe and comfortable environment. While serving in their specific trades, this employee is a Health System Physical Plant shift worker and would respond to a wide variety of service calls such as in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire systems, clinical engineering, pheumatic Tube System, and elevator entrapments as the initial responder to the call.

We have the following shift available. All applicants must be willing and able to work the shift below:

Weeknight/Weekend Day Shift (eligible for shift and weekend pay premiums):

Wednesday Night: 11:00 pm - 7:00 am Wednesday (8 hours)

Thursday Night: 11:00 pm - 7:00 am Thursday (8 hours)

Saturday: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm (12 hours)

Sunday: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm (12 hours)

Duties Include:

Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repair for multiple building trades.

Respond independently to all emergency calls in the Health System Complex.

Maintain accurate daily logs of jobs and time tickets.

Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective equipment are used.

Foster a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.

Inform customers of job status and reasons for and duration of expected delays.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties/shifts may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

A minimum of four years of experience in the plumbing, electrical, or HVAC trade. Experience in a hospital setting is strongly preferred.

Journeyman or higher license in either HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing. A valid Driver's license.

Use of computers and cell phones and accessories.

Must have Flu shots (Required by the Medical Center).

For this position, the selected candidates will need to complete all required background checks, including a Health Screen prior to the start date.

Compensation:

The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position $24.00 - $29.00 per hour.Shift Differential pay rates to be included with this position (Varies per shift - $2.00 - $4.50/hr).Employees new to UVA are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $2,500 for a one-year commitment.This is a full-time position with UVAbenefits. Physical Demands:

The employee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands-on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks). The employee must have normal vision and hearing (correctable), and for some areas of employment, color vision, and sense of smell.
